My family and I have spent many many summers in a log home in the woods. There is simply nothing better in my book. You can have the fancy hotel or resort, I just want a log house in the middle of the mountains and woods to relax in. A lake near by is a plus. With more and more people building log homes themselves, the idea of using a kit is extremely attractive. You can still do the building, but you can remove all the hassle of materials prep. Sure, the hard-core buildings will think this is cheating. But I say it's a less expensive way to get yourself into a log home. I say go for it and use log home kits as a way to achieve your dream.
